I Just Do What I’m Told

Friends, family, colleagues and virtual strangers all show concern for Rob following his biopsy. Joe alone is absent from the group of well-wishers. The medical discussion turns to Robby's nurse girlfriend and the possibility of her performing a certain examination off the clock. A Wikipedia article listing various ethnic slurs includes some obscure and confusing entries. Rob and Joe ponder the fate of a Patriot's fan who sent the now infamous Tweets to Raven's WR Torrey Smith. An important rite of passage happens for Joe's sons when the boys witness their first bar brawl. The annual Apple Butter Festival is a couple of weeks away, Robby is taking his girlfriend, but Joe must travel to San Diego that weekend for a wedding. Since this will be an expensive trip for Joe and his family, Rob wonders about the bride and groom's gift expectations and how long Joe thinks the marriage must last to get his monies' worth.

Surprisingly Tim did not email everyone on the show the infamous photos of the Duchess of Cambridge. Rob accidentally plays a clip from the show for his driver improvement class. The season premiere of SNL prompts a revisiting of Rob's vow to write a sketch for his new cast member friend, and he wonders if doing a presidential impression as a comic affects the way you vote. There is an update about Rob and Joe possibly vacationing together. Rob's liver biopsy seems imminent, but Robby urges him to consider the possibility that the procedure may be unnecessary. Robby wonders if Rob was serious about a comment he made regarding the booking of his stand-up gigs.

Joe brings his youngest son to watch football with the guys. The wisdom of this is questioned as well as the boy's divergent rooting interest. Robby's anger appears to have emerged again recently over some show-related emails. The long-awaited unveiling of the new show theme song arrives. Rob receives a new diagnosis and an invasive procedure is in his future. This medical condition and a news story about a man faking his own death leads to a discussion of Rob's hypothetical end and funeral arrangements. Joe has high expectation for the Daniel Day Lewis portrayal of Lincoln.

During a Labor Day get-together to watch baseball, Tim is seduced by Keno. Joe gives other examples of Tim's compulsive behavior. The NFL season is about to begin so everyone including significant others make their Superbowl picks. Just by reading Rob's girlfriend's name, her race is apparent to a waitress. A career opportunity gives Rob a legitimate excuse to break his doctor-ordered sobriety. Tim's inability to censor himself causes a debate about which word is the worst offense in a workplace email. Rob and Joe ask Robby about possible forays into roleplaying.
